13 Shipping Containers for Everyone

Depending on the type of products to be shipped or the special services needed from them, container units may vary in dimension, structure, materials, construction etc. Various types of shipping containers are being used today to meet requirements of all kinds of cargo shipping. 

Some of the most common types of shipping containers in use today are mentioned below:

1. Dry storage container
These are some of the most common shipping containers. 

                                              They are used for shipping dry goods that do not require temperature control. 

                                              Come in sizes: 20', 40', 40 HC, 

2. Flat rack container

Flat rack containers are especially suitable for heavy loads 

and cargo that needs loading from the top or sides. 

There are collapsible containers and non-collapsible containers with or without walls.

3. Open Top Container

                                              With a convertible top that can be completely removed to make an open top 

                                              so that materials of any height can be shipped easily.

                                         Come in sizes: 20 OT, 40 OT. 

                                             4. Tunel Containers 

                                             Container storages provided with doors on both ends of the container.

                                             They are extremely helpful in quick loading and unloading materials.

                                             5.Open side Storage Container  

These doors of this type of storage can be changed to

                                             form completely open sides having a side completely open. This allows wider loading material.

                                            6. Double Doors Container 

                                           They are kind of storage units that are provided with double doors, making a wider room 

                                           for loading and unloading of materials. 

                                           Construction materials include steel, iron etc in standardized sizes of 20ft and 40ft.

                                           7.Insulated or thermal containers    

                                          These storage containers have a regulated temperature control allowing them to

                                           maintain a higher temperature to keep goods warmer.


                                           These are liquid storage containers. 

                                           They are typically constructed of strong steel and other anti-corrosive 

                                           materials to protect the liquid freight inside it.


             9. Refrigerated Container  (REEFER)   

Is one that is temperature regulated and always has a carefully controlled low temperature. 

These are used of perishable substances like vegetables and fruits over vast distances.   

Come in sizes: 20', 40'

10.  Half Height Container        

 Made mostly of steel, these containers are half the height of full sized containers. 

Used especially for good like coal, stones etc which need easy loading and unloading. 

11.  Drums                  

  Cylindrical shipping containersmade of steel, plastic or fiber. They are often used for liquids and granular materials.  


12. Special Purpose Containers

These containers can be different shapes and sizes and are often custom made for specific cargo


 13.  Car Carriers              

   These are used for the transportation of liquid materials, cars, and special goods such as weapons.  

They come with collapsible sides that help a car fit snugly inside the containers without the risk of being damaged .
